Description: Open Educational Resource (OER) developed as part of the second training offer by the UNITA Teaching and Learning Centres (May–June 2025), aimed at strengthening university teaching staff competencies in internationalisation.
Authors: Aneider Iza Erviti, Paloma Fernández-Rasines, Julia Itziar Amorena.
Summary: This video is part of the first session of the course Recipes to Promote Teaching and Learning in an International Environment, delivered by Aneider Iza Erviti and Paloma Fernández-Rasines, professors at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA). In this session, the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) is presented — a free, open-access digital resource designed to support the internationalisation of higher education degree programmes.
Developed within the Erasmus+ project RECIPES for Internationalisation, coordinated by the European university alliance UNITA, the SAT allows academic coordinators and teaching staff to evaluate the level of internationalisation in their degree programmes, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and receive tailored suggestions in the form of “recipes”. These provide a structured pathway towards a more global, inclusive, and future-oriented education.
The SAT is available through UNITApedia, a collaborative knowledge platform compiling educational resources on mobility, academic cooperation, and teaching innovation. Through a step-by-step demonstration, the video explains how to access the tool, complete its 16 items organised across five key dimensions —Curriculum, Students, Staff, Strategy, and Partnerships— and obtain a total score that classifies the internationalisation level of the programme as low, moderate or high.
Additionally, the SAT generates a set of recommended recipes based on the lowest-performing areas. The full results can be exported as a PDF for institutional use. Beyond a one-off evaluation, the SAT encourages continuous improvement, strategic planning, and equitable access to internationalisation across the higher education sector.
